What is Toulene

Toulene is a colorless water insoluble liquid. It has many uses. Perhaps the most common application of Toulene is in paint thinner. Indeed, the smell of Toulene will be familiar to most people who have been around the latter.

Toulene Applications

Toulene is also used in cement, contact glue, and fuel. More recent applications have been found for cleaning products, and a growing number of cleaning professionals have turned to Toulene cleaner to take on their toughest jobs. It must be pointed out that Toulene is essentially a solvent—one of the most potent and effective on the market. This is an invaluable property for cleaning, and professionals who are tasked with sanitizing large offices and industrial sites have learned to take advantage of it.

Toulene is hazardous to human health, and so it should not be consumed or inhaled in anyway. Professionals who use Toulene wear protective gear so as to minimize direct exposure to it.

In moderate doses, the compound is perfectly safe to use as nail polish remover. Many women have put it to use for that exact purpose and have done so with great success.

What is MEK? (Methyl Ethyl Ketone)

Methyl Ethyl Ketone is a liquid solvent that is found in adhesives, printing inks, and surface coatings. MEK cleaner contains lube oil dewaxing agents and is used as a medium to extract waxes, oils, fats, and resins. Its effectiveness has made it one of the most popular liquid solvent today.

What can I use MEK for?

You can use MEK for thinning specific types of coatings such as adhesives, polyester, inks and epoxy resins. It is also effective when trying to clean dried adhesives such as lacquer and latex paints. If done properly, there will be no observable damage to the surface of what was cleaned. Make sure there is sufficient ventilation in the area where the MEK is being used.

Anything that cannot be cleaned with acetone will most likely be cleaned by MEK since it is stronger. Acetone is dimethyl ketone which is similar to, although weaker than, methyl ethyl ketone.

Where should I store MEK?

Ensure that the cap is on tightly and leave it in a dry, cool area. It should be far from any source of heat including direct sunlight. Store it in storage spaces where the temperature is below 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Proper storage will ensure that you will get at least six months of shelf life to clean surfaces with a MEK cleaner.

Hare-vs-Tortoise

Petroferm Inc. – not so fast! Ecolink Inc. has supplied MIL-PRF-680-Type-II for over 10 years!

Ecolink started working on their qualified product, New II, in the late 1990’s to replace the over-priced and uncontested Breakthrough Solvent, Breakthrough Cleaner. As a result of reducing total cost by almost 75%, Ecolink Inc earned the trust, respect and business of the Department of Defense, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Pratt & Whitney. In the early 2000’s, Petroferm courted Ecolink Inc for an acquisition. On September 11, 2001, Petroferm Inc. repealed their Letter of Intent. However, during the due diligence process, they learned of our sole source award for MIL-PRF-680-Type-II and interviewed all of our key employees, including our ex-Navy, military & government specialist.

Several years later we find Petroferm Inc qualified to MIL-PRF-680 Types I, II, III and IV. There is a saying that “Imitation is the highest form of flattery.” Ecolink Inc feels ‘very’ flattered by Petroferm Inc’s imitation.

Ecolink Inc will match or beat any qualified product for MIL-PRF-680-Type-II. We operate a low overhead operation and can afford to guarantee best prices to our customers. Ecolink Inc. has been focused on our customer’s profit first since we were founded in 1991.

Save Money Using our Chemical Management Services

chemical management servicesIf you happen to be unfamiliar with chemical management services, here is a look into its business model to see if your industrial business can take advantage of its benefits.

Chemical Management Services

Chemical management services enable a customer to purchase chemical services and all aspects of the chemical management lifecycle, rather than just chemical itself. Chemical management services involves procurement, delivery and distribution, creating, logging, and maintaining inventory, monitoring and reporting related issues or problems, training employees on how to properly handle and use the chemical agent, as well as technology, treatment, and disposal information needed to maximize efficiency improvements. Under the guidelines of chemical management services, the chemical agent provider is compensated based on the quality of services provided that reduce the costs, risks, and environmental impacts during the entire lifecycle of the chemical offered, and not on the volume or quantity of chemical sold. The main and most purposeful effect chemical management services has is it places the same objective on both the service provider and the customer, and that is to work towards reducing chemical use and cost in order to achieve benefits that can be obtained through reducing chemical use, cost, and waste.

Save Money by Cutting Chemical Usage

One of the most serviceable benefits of implementing chemical management is the money savings. For examples, the cost of chemical management ranges can be upwards of three dollars for every dollar of chemical purchased. So, a facility purchasing a million dollars in chemicals could spend as much as an additional three million just to manage its use. The large cost is due to the expenses incurred as a direct result of using chemicals. Those expenses include compliance, safety, disposal, and space needed to incorporate the service, among other aspects. Chemical management services have proven to reduce all of the costs named above. In addition, chemical management services help manufacturers prioritize chemical management activities. For most manufacturing companies, chemical management is not considered part of the core business, therefore, imposing management criteria is not often a priority until some aspect of the service goes awry. As a result, the managing of chemicals by an industrial business utilizing chemical services is not performed as efficiently as other manufacturing activities. Fortunately, the implementation of chemical management services directly combats and eradicates this problem.

Eco Friendly Solutions

On the environmental front, chemical management services reduce hazardous chemical use, emissions, waste, the number of accidents on site, and liability. Chemical management services also drastically improve employee safety, it creates additional floor space for manufacturing, and it increases staff productivity by eliminating chemical management tasks from their duties, making its implementation a wonderful eco friendly solution for industrial businesses. Contacting Ecolink  – a green alternative solutions provider for industrial companies – will provide more information about the eco friendly benefits that come from using chemical management services.
