High Flash Point Solvent: Advantages and Industrial Applications

High flash point solvents are substances that ignite at significantly high temperatures. These chemicals can be utilized by manufacturers for various products and tasks. However, they also come with disadvantages. This blog will cover several advantages of utilizing solvents with high flash points and a few solvent options Ecolink has to offer.

Advantages

Solvents, or dissolving agents, that do not ignite as easily have a few advantages compared to low flash point solvents that you should consider.

Firstly, they come with a reduced chance of burn injury. Utilizing less flammable compounds, reduces the risk of burn injuries.

A second advantage is that you will not have to spend as much money on protection. Protective equipment will still be necessary, but you will not be required to spend money on heavy-duty equipment.

Another advantage you should be aware of is that you will not have to be as worried about chemical storage.

While dissolving agents with high flash points do have fire-related storage considerations, it is generally much safer to store them near ignition sources and combustible chemicals than low flash point solvents.

Applications of Solvents

Solvents have many applications in the industrial and commercial world:

  • Coatings
  • Adhesives
  • Sealants
  • Paints
  • Cosmetics
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Intermediates in chemical synthesis

Ecolink Products That Have High Ignition Temperatures

Ecolink offers a wide selection of solvents in our shop that require high temperatures for ignition. Some products that fall into this category include:

  • Parts Kleen II: Parts Kleen II is an environmentally preferred parts washer solvent. The mixture is strong enough to eliminate grease, fuel oil, carbon, and organic resins. Despite its strength, this solvent is safe to use on most plastics and rubber surfaces. You can also use this parts washer without extensive protective equipment since it only ignites at high temperatures.
  • Electron: Electron is quite similar to the solvent mentioned above. This mixture’s base is of a high-grade oil distillate, which allows it to clean grease and organic resins off various electrical equipment. It is also safe to use on most plastics and rubber surfaces without much protective equipment.
