Mithuna’s Internship Experience

This completes my journey at Ecolink as an intern. It has been a journey of growth and learning, which I assume is the case for every one that went through it with me.

Coming into this internship, I knew how to write scientific papers that earns me an A in my college classes. I also knew how to write a fictional story, which is captivating. At least, that is what my friends say. I never thought about writing captivating, but also scientifically informing pieces, until Ecolink.

For the first time ever, I was able to combine the two types of writing I love to bring interesting and informational works for you. Unlike research done for lab reports, the research necessary for this internship was different in that there weren’t scholarly articles everywhere for the niche topics I was covering. However, due to my degree in biochemistry, I was knowledgeable in most of the scientific aspects of the topics, which helped me a lot. For the aspects I wasn’t sure about, I spent a large amount of time researching.

Starting out, I was a newbie when it came to working with SEO optimization. Most of what I learned was from Ecolink. I’m beyond glad to say that I’m finishing my internship well-versed in SEO optimization. However, that does not mean I’m done learning. There is still a lot more to learn, which is the case with everything we know, and I’m looking forward to continuing learning.

People at Ecolink were extremely understanding, friendly, and willing to teach, which is something I’m grateful for. Working under Hannah was very gratifying because having a supervisor/boss like Hannah is a blessing. She was available at the odd times I would be working, ready to assist me without complaints. She was very understanding towards unexpected situations that arose. Best of all, she was very happy to teach me when I was confused or stuck. She created a very welcoming environment for you to learn, even if that’s by making mistakes.

Though I’m sad about this chapter of my life ending, I will always have the experience and knowledge I gained from this opportunity.  I had a lot of fun learning, researching, and writing during my time at Ecolink.

Tristan’s Internship Experience

When I first learned about the Ecolink internship, it caught my interest to say the least. I’ve always been passionate about the environment, so working with a company that emphasizes environmental issues and sustainability like Ecolink is a big priority for me. Plus, being able to work remotely and on my own schedule was great as a busy senior in college. All in all, I knew I had to apply right away.

What I’ve Learned

In addition to being perfect for my interests and schedule, the Ecolink internship has also taught me quite a bit and helped me grow as a professional. This Spring, I’ve gotten to learn about:

  • Search engine optimization
  • Writing blogs on technical topics
  • Hot topics in the chemical industry
  • Extraction and cleaning methods
  • Keyword research and using Google Analytics

Entering this internship, I was mostly looking to supplement my schoolwork with something that could give me some insight into the chemical industry and help prepare me to really enter the professional world as an engineer. Exiting this internship, I can definitely say I got what I came for and much more.

Working At Ecolink

Being an intern at Ecolink was an absolute joy. Hannah is a wonderful supervisor that is easy to communicate with, unbelievably helpful and understanding, and just an overall amazing person to work with. I never felt bad about having questions or needing help with something, which makes working so much more pleasant.

In addition to the amazing peers, I also only have good things to say about the work itself. Getting to educate myself on important topics in the industry and then actively work towards presenting that information in a new, more digestible way feels like meaningful work that you can be proud of.

All in all, I can’t recommend interning with Ecolink enough. Amazing work with amazing people, and you can do it in a way that fits perfectly into your schedule. I simply couldn’t ask for more!

Valerie’s Internship Experience

Now that the spring internship is coming to an end, I am reflecting on all the skills I have learned and the connections that I’ve made while interning for the company. Before this internship, I knew very little about SEO and did not have any formal experience with writing outside of academics. Learning about the utilization of SEO has been fascinating to me, especially how much it can increase traffic and benefit a blog/company.

How Did Valerie Contribute?

Writing blogs and doing research for Ecolink has also been very exciting, mostly because of my interest in chemistry and sustainable chemicals. I immediately knew I wanted to work for the company when I realized that they are prioritizing the manufacturing of chemicals that are progressive in terms of environmental harm and worker safety.

Valerie’s Internship Final Thoughts

Zoe Laub Internship

Zoe’s Internship Experience

As an English major specializing in Creative Writing, I often faced judgment from peers and older adults in my life for not picking what they would call a more lucrative area of study. Although I respect teachers and have experience as a writing tutor, my passion has always been writing for an audience to further a mission. I knew from my past internship and my time spent writing for various topics and styles that writing copy would be an excellent position for me, despite the doubt presented by outside parties.

Ecolink’s remote structure and friendly, accommodating team made the experience even better; we even received an email from Brandon, the CEO, at the start of our internship letting us know to reach out whenever we’d like. Although I did not have experience in chemistry or the chemical industry, my internship with Ecolink solidified my opinion that writing copy will always be about research and execution.

What Zoe Learned

Within about two months, I simultaneously learned and wrote about:

  • Chemical regulations
  • Atomic structure
  • Various solvents and their uses
  • The History and Science of Extraction
  • Roof maintenance
  • Power washing chemicals and application
  • And much more

Our company leader, Carolyn, taught us so many lessons on SEO Writing, Google Analytics, WordPress, keyword research, product naming, and, most importantly, how to capture the attention of our readers. What people want most when they search the internet are answers, and why not work to ensure Ecolink clients can get information directly from their chemical supplier?

My favorite part of my internship was researching and writing about eco-friendly alternatives, both for chemicals and daily practices. My Earth Day blog, which focuses on riding public transportation in Los Angeles as a way to celebrate the Earth, was such an excellent opportunity for me to channel my passion for eco-friendly solutions and writing.

Zoe’s Internship Final Thoughts

Although only an intern, my experience with this company made me feel genuinely valued as a member of the Ecolink team. We even pitched ideas about how the company could celebrate Earth Day and received the company Earth Day T-shirts in the mail. If you’re wondering if you should apply for an internship position with Ecolink, I could not give you any answer other than an enthusiastic YES!

Ayanna Cooper Internship Experience

Ayanna’s Internship Experience

When I saw Ecolink posted as an Internship opportunity on LinkedIn I knew I had to apply. While I have several internships under my belt, I was beyond excited to take on one where I could learn about SEO. I did not have any sort of chemistry background but as a risk-taker and a Writing major, I was intrigued. While I was unfamiliar with the company at first, I was impressed by the innovation and progressiveness they convey on social media.

How did you get out of your comfort zone?

Although I am a Writing major I had never written any SEO content nor have I had the opportunity to write so many blogs on topics I was unfamiliar with for a brand outside of my field. I believe one of the best parts of this internship was improving my research skills and being able to see the benefits of SEO and Digital marketing in real-time. Do I know a little bit about solvents, how to make edible oils, and how to get content ranked on Google? Of course, I do!

Ecolink’s internship has been one of my favorites and if I could go back and do it again, I would. This opportunity was not only flexible but accommodating as well. The amount of support was very appreciated. The Ecolink team could be reached at any time which was always very reassuring.

Ayanna’s Takeaways from the Internship

During my time with Ecolink I was able to do the following and more:

  • Structure engaging content and create various CTA for Ecolink and their branded sites
  • Learn how to avoid duplicates/repetitiveness in text
  • Create unique product names and keywords
  • Analyze and utilize GA (Google Analytics)
  • Research chemical topics and chemicals I was unfamiliar with

Ayanna’s Final Thoughts

There are truly not enough words I could provide to extend my sincere thanks to the Ecolink team for this opportunity. As someone who is about to graduate in just a few short weeks, my interest in UX and SEO has grown tremendously and this experience has aligned with that perfectly. I am beyond thankful that I was able to be a part of this internship experience before my Undergraduate career ends. I am honestly sad that this internship has to conclude. It has been such an insightful journey and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I can not wait to apply all I’ve learned here throughout my career journey! I’d recommend anyone who has a love for writing, and chemistry or simply wants to try something new to apply for this internship when it’s offered in the Spring or Summer.
