BioSafe 1025 Replacements – Discover a Safer Option

If you or your company used BioSafe 1025 for resin and paint removal, you may be wondering why the product is no longer available on the market. While the chemical blend may have been effective at stripping various coatings, it was recently discontinued, presumably due to the potentially serious risks associated with it.

Thankfully, there are significantly safer BioSafe 1025 replacements that may even be more effective.

What Were the Risks of Using BioSafe 1025?

BioSafe 1025 was associated with multiple health hazards and was also potentially harmful to the environment. Some of these hazards are listed below:

  • Flammable
  • Causes serious eye irritation
  • Reproductive toxicity
  • Skin irritation
  • Respiratory irritation
  • Can cause dizziness or drowsiness
  • Environmental toxicity

The health and environmental hazards of the product can be attributed to the fact that its chemical composition consisted of a high percentage of N-methyl pyrrolidine, or NMP, a chemical that presents significant concern for its reproductive toxicity levels.

There are a couple of options for alternative paint removing chemicals, including terpene-based or soy-based. One specific example of the ideal replacement for BioSafe 1025 that we will explore is Safe Strip.

What Is Safe Strip?

Safe Strip is a highly effective eco-friendly resin and paint solvent that was formulated to replace hazardous solvents like methylene chloride, MEK, and BioSafe 1025. Here is a list of the benefits of utilizing Safe Strip over other paint and resin removers:

  • Biodegradable
  • Recyclable
  • Non-flammable
  • Low VOC emissions
  • No ozone-depleting chemicals
  • Removes coatings in only one step
  • Powerful stripping abilities, similar to MEK and methylene chloride
  • Effective on all coatings, including epoxy and polyurethane resins
  • Significantly lower Inhalation Hazard Index than solvents like MEK, making it much safer for both industrial and commercial use
