Volatile organic compounds, or VOCs, are substances composed of carbon atoms that quickly evaporate. Some of these organic substances you might recognize are automotive gasoline, benzene, and chloroform. They can be incredibly harmful for both the people who utilize them and the environment; causing many manufacturers and businesses to become interested in integrating low-VOC chemical alternatives into their daily operations. This blog will explain two low-volatile organic compound solvents that Ecolink has to offer.

Ecolink has a variety of chemicals, like solvents, in our shop. Two low-VOC products Ecolink sells that you should consider are Preptone and Safe Strip.

Preptone

Preptone is a low-VOC solvent wipe that incorporates the technology of Ultra Prep® terpene solvents in an acetone base. This solvent wipe is suitable for all metals, but not many elastomers. We do not recommend you use our product for painted surfaces due to its acetone content. Multiple benefits of the hand wipe are:

  • Powerful and broad-range solvency
  • Traditional Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) and Trichloroethylene (TCE) “feel”
  • Quick evaporation
  • No halogenated components
  • No ozone-depleting solvents
  • No HAPs

Safe Strip

If you are searching for an environmentally friendly paint and resin solvent with low- VOC emissions, Safe Strip is the product for you. This effective paint remover utilizes chemicals that act as replacements for hazardous solvents typically found in paint clean-up and removal products, such as methylene chloride. It can be used in immersion tanks, as a brush-on and rinse-off solvent. It is also can be used as a paint gun cleaner. Several other advantages of this product include:

  • Biodegradable
  • Non-flammable
  • Non-ozone depleting
  • Recyclable
