Industrial White Oil: Applications and Benefits in Different Sectors

White oil, also known as mineral oil is a colorless mixture of hydrocarbons obtained from petroleum. Manufacturers from multiple industries use liquid petroleum in many of their products and applications. These products can range from pharmaceuticals to lubricants. This blog will cover the various applications of white oil and Ecolink’s mineral oil products.

Various Applications of Industrial White Oil

Liquid petroleum is a highly diverse chemical that can be used in a variety of applications. Several applications include:

  • Cosmetics such as lotions, creams, and hair products
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Food packing materials
  • Food grade lubricants
  • Food grade greasers
  • Plastics
  • Elastomers
  • Brake fluid
  • Storing reactive metals
  • Adhesives
  • Anti-rust agent for blades

Benefits of Utilizing White Oil

Using liquid petroleum in product production has many advantages. One advantage is that the oil is relatively harmless for humans to use in products due to it being heavily refined and treated.

Another advantage is that some mineral oils, like Ecolink’s, have antioxidants in them. For example, Ecolink’s white oil products contain vitamin E, which is a natural antioxidant. Antioxidants can protect the body’s cells from being damaged by free radicals, or molecules created in the decomposition of food or when exposed to radiation or tobacco smoke. A third advantage is that the oil has protective and lubricating properties. Certain industries, such as the cosmetic industry, utilize these specific properties in their products.

Four Grades of Mineral Oil That Ecolink Has to Offer

Ecolink offers four different grades of white mineral oil in our shop. The four grades are the following:

All the products listed above are essentially the same, except they each have different viscosities. The viscosity of the oil is how thick it is. The higher number on the product signifies a thicker oil. For example, 350 White Oil is thicker than 220 White Oil. Specific businesses and industries might require these different viscosities for their product production.
