Are you looking for an industrial chemical that performs and complies?
Military missions and business profitability cannot tolerate the sourcing, use and disposal of non-performing industrial chemicals. Seeking excellence above excellence, and perfection above perfection matters in every aspect of your organization including constantly changing, highly regulated industrial chemicals. Ecolink wants to help you ensure that you only use what you need and “not a drop more” to maintain, repair or produce your high value parts, equipment or fleet.
Starting with our flagship products, Electron and Positron, Ecolink was established in 1991 as a custom chemical solution provider to help industry and government comply with rising environmental, health and safety regulations. Because we partner with our clients in the research and development of industrial chemicals there is no end to innovation for you to leverage. As soon as our clients and we invent something, it gives rise to other inventions. For example, while testing alternatives to Trichloroethane (TCA) CAS # 71-55-6, Westinghouse (now Siemens) qualified and adopted Electron while General Electric (GE) Energy qualified and approved Positron. Twenty years later, we can continue to supply these materials to Siemens and GE Energy worldwide for the maintenance of their turbine generators during scheduled outages. Your organization can dramatically shorten the evaluation-to-implementation cycle by leveraging Ecolink’s substantial library of product-application pairings documented for a wide range of manufacturing and overhaul operations, aerospace, electronics, marine/shipyards, military, mining, power generation, pulp & paper, timber and transportation.
Going forward you and your team will continue to benefit from the opportunities for innovation that arise from each of our new clients, often in unrelated industries. A current example stems from our work with a leading sporting goods manufacturer located in San Diego County Air Pollution Control District who partnered with Ecolink for the design of a vapor pressure compliant hand wipe solvent (SDAPCD Rule 66.1) and replace Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) CAS # 67-63-0 and Acetone CAS # 67-64-1 which offers numerous applications at nearby Camp Pendleton and Naval Air Station North Island. Embracing the unpredictable nature of innovation of partnering with our clients for custom solutions generates cumulative effects and exponential impacts resulting in a predictable and repeatable win-win.

Lean-to-Green Design Principles
- Our custom chemical solutions are green(er) simply because they consume less (time, money, risk).
- Our custom chemical solutions are practical vs. pie-in-the-sky. Our design criteria consists of functionality + compliance + cost-effectiveness.
- Our custom chemical solutions are made ‘your way’ with maximum flexibility: you decide if you wish to do-it-yourself (DIY), outsource 100% or some iteration in between.
- Our custom chemical solutions are sculpted through a systematic process of taking away that recognizes packaging, transportation, ingredients, labeling, delivery system and associated solid waste and hazardous waste profiles.
- Our custom chemical solutions are designed for (0) zero chemical waste. We strive to find more to dissemble than to assemble and actively pursue applications that consume many (or few) industrial chemicals.
- Our custom chemical solutions range from immediate, off-the-shelf solutions to minor tweaks completed in less than 30 days to formulations that are designed and implemented over multiple years.
- Our custom chemical solutions are designed from insights largely as observations derived in your work environment vs. simulated in a controlled lab environment.

Ecolink’s Custom Chemical Cleaning Solution 12-Step Methodology
Step 1: Determine what you want to clean (surfaces involved).
Step 2: Determine what you want to remove (soils involved).
Step 3: Determine current method or application (how you do it now).
Step 4: Determine what you are currently using and in what amounts (current chemicals).
Step 5: Determine why you want or need to change: performance, worker safety, environmental impact, service, cost, or other (success criteria).
Step 6: Determine the aspects and impacts of the end-to-end process to capture the upstream and downstream consequences including material handling.
Step 7: Determine the degree of impact of compliance to internal and external (local, state, or federal government) environmental, health and safety regulations.
Step 8: Depending on annual usage and/or number of chemicals involved, we either schedule an in-person visit or arrange a video conference to review your goals for designing a custom solution.
Step 9: Once we determine our ability to help you directly or indirectly through a referral to one of our alliance partners, we prepare a bench scale sample (typically 16 ounce, pint size) and either demonstrate in person with your team or send for your team to evaluate.
Step 10: Depending on the success or failure, we either (success) send a 5-gal sample for more extensive testing or (failure) tweak formulation and send a follow-up 16 ounce, pint sample.
Step 11: Once you and your team are completely satisfied, we work together on naming the product, designing product label and packaging and establishing a forecast to ensure you receive your custom solution on time, every time.
Step 12: After your custom solution is implemented, we document the financial, environmental and human or social benefits and, based on your preferences, promote among your shareholders, stakeholders, local community, regulators, and industry peers.
For more than 20 years, Ecolink has molecularly restructured organic and inorganic chemicals through recycling, recombining, repurposing, or otherwise modifying for new uses. Borrowing from endosymbiosis (cellular merging), our clients have enjoyed successful solvent substitution through emergence as the result of our thoughtful and intentional merging. There are two sides of scientific inquiry: reductionism and the kind of synthesis that acknowledges emergence. Reduction seeks to explain by breaking down physical phenomena into their most minimal parts, seemingly on the trees within the ecosystem. Synthesis, by contrast, discerns emergent properties and dynamics that are unique to higher levels of complexity, recognizing their irreducibility to simpler or lower levels. Scientific inquiry swings between a time to break down and a time to build up. New life emerges out of emptiness or waste. Harnessing molecular restructuring, endosymbiosis, and scientific inquiry, Ecolink continues to thrive in a world that is continually emergent and openly innovative, in which the smallest factor, if exercised at the right moment, can bring about large-scale changes: the flap of a butterfly’s wing, a quantum fluctuation, or a flash of inspiration. Our experience has proven most successful with bottom-up or grass roots approach where your people working closest with your industrial chemicals are involved in choosing your replacement technologies. Before we sign off on any custom solution we make sure it is capable of being used in your existing infrastructure.
Feeding the Growing Need for Custom Cleaning Solutions
Ecolink was established in response to the accelerated phase-out of Class I Ozone Depleting Substances. Regulatory compliance is getting progressively more difficult to satisfy with long-time commodity chemicals such as:

Our custom solution efforts are motivated by the lack of viable choices by our industry peers. To be a viable option, the industrial chemicals must (1) perform, (2) conform and (3) be cost-effective when measured as total cost of ownership. We build your custom solutions your way by listening to your people and factoring long-term compliance implications instead of starting with what’s easiest or most important for our company. We are rewriting the way industrial chemicals are sourced, used, handled, and disposed and documenting our success stories in a book format. If you are interested in participating and contributing to our collection of success stories please email or call 800 563-1305. We are tracking money saved, tons of solid and hazardous waste avoided, number of miles transporting clean and dirty industrial chemicals avoided and improvements to human health and safety (at your site and among your extended community).
